“I set up Gemelli about 6 years ago, following a career as an HR Director.  Gemelli is HR-related in that we provide companies with Employee Benefits Schemes to support their staff with tax-saving and work/life balance benefits. 

The business had been relatively successful and we had seen good steady growth year on year. I was keen though to expand the business and make it much more profitable.  Coming from an HR background, I knew I had an excellent benefits package to offer clients, one which integrated seamlessly with their HR and Finance Teams.

However, I had no real experience in sales and marketing – my problem was finding the right clients and getting in front of them.”

“Mentoring has really helped us to move our business forwards.

We initially worked out a detailed 3 year growth plan, and then each session,  broke this down and worked on specific goals.  As we started to achieve some real successes, it was really helpful to talk these through with my mentor and establish how this growth had come about. We then focused on repeating the elements that had helped us to achieve these successes. 

The process also enabled me to step away from the day-to-day running of the business to work on the longer-term strategy.

The tangible results from the mentoring included a significant growth in turnover, increased profitability, clear strategies to acquire the best type of customers for our business, and greater commitment and understanding from our staff, enabling us to work together to achieve the goals we had set.

More importantly, it has given us greater confidence in the first-class service we provide to our clients, which has been verified by some fantastic client feedback. 

Our business is now in a very strong position for further growth. We now have many new products and clear strategies for acquiring the clients we really want to deal with.“
